Honoring Don Ivy
Don Ivy, a lifelong Oregonian and member of the Coquille Indian Tribe was a founding member of the Elakha Alliance in the late 1990s. Don resonated with the vision that sea otters should be – needed to be – returned to their ancient home to help restore the coastal environment that his ancestors once knew. His ideas and his passion were instrumental in creating the Elakha Alliance as a non-profit organization in 2018 to carry out that vision. Despite the demands on his time as Chief of the Coquille Indian Tribe and his other community activities, Don was actively involved in creating a strategic plan to guide the work of the Elakha Alliance. His support and leadership will be greatly missed.
