1970’s Oregon Sea Otter Translocation – What Happened?

April 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

What happened to the 93 sea otters who were flown from Amchitka Island, Alaska, to Port Orford and Coos Bay for release into the ocean? Why were they brought to southern Oregon in the first place? And how did they, by 1981, all disappear?

Bob Bailey, Board President of the Elakha Alliance, will tell the tale, discuss what we can learn from the past, and answer your questions at Coos History Museum’s First Tuesday Talk on April 1st, 2025 from 6:00pm-7:00pm.
