Corvallis 5K Fun Run & Ocean Awareness Fundraiser

Join Graduate Student Kaylee Lawson and the Elakha Alliance for the first ever 5K Fun Run & Awareness Event on May 4th in Corvallis, OR! This event is a fundraiser for the Elakha Alliance’s efforts to restore Oregon’s sea otter population.

After the 5K Fun Run, we invite the community to gather at the Peffer Amphitheater for refreshments and drinks (for those 21+) from Two Towns Cider & Block 15 Brewing. We will also award Prize Packages to the Top 3 Fun Run finishers, followed by presentations from representatives of the Elakha Alliance and Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition.

Kaylee Lawson is a graduate from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s in Fisheries and Wildlife Science (marine conservation focused), and is currently working towards a Conservation Master’s Degree at Miami University online. For her Master’s Degree, she has to complete an action component in her local community, so she connected with the Elakha Alliance to host a 5k Fun Run and Awareness Event to fundraise for the Elakha Alliance’s efforts to reintroduce sea otters back to Oregon.

5K Fun Run Details:

• Where: Bruce Staker Arts Park and Natural Area as the Peffer Amphitheater (4485 SW Country Club Dr, Corvallis, OR 97333).
• Please register runners/walkers using the link above. The 5k Registration Fee is $25, which will be donated to the Elakha Alliance’s efforts to help protect our coastal marine ecosystems.
• All ages are welcome!
• Check-in for the 5K Fun Run will start at 1:00pm
• The 5K Fun Run will start at 1:30pm at the Peffer Amphitheater
• See Map below for full route loop – participants will be running on the sidewalks with chalk arrows and signs so you know you’re on the right path 🙂
• Prizes Packages will be awarded to the Top 3 Finishers of the 5K Fun Run
• After the run, complimentary snacks and beverages from Two Towns Cider and Block 15 Brewery will be available for 5K participants 21+ and over, and water will be available to refill your reusable water bottles at the Amphitheater.

Ocean Conservation Awareness Celebration Details:

• Starting at 2:30pm, runners and supporters will gather around the Peffer Amphitheater for snacks and complimentary beverages provided by Two Towns Cider and Block 15 Brewing (for those 21+). Bring your refillable water bottles as well. The Elakha Alliance and Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition will be tabling and educating the public on ocean conservation efforts in Oregon and selling merch.
• 2:45pm-3:00 pm: Prize Packages will be presented to the Top 3 5K Fun Run finishers
• 3:30pm: Guest Speakers:

• 4:00pm-5:00pm: Enjoy the rest of the refreshments and visit the tabling non-profits!
